Sena Karachanak-Yankova has graduated molecular biology at Biological faculty, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in 2004 and has acquired master degree in genetics in 2006. In 2013 she completed PhD оn population genetics topic at the Department of Medical genetics, Medical University-Sofia.

Sena Karachanak-Yankova became assistant professor at the Department of Medical genetics, Medical university-Sofia in 2007 and was improved to senior assistant professor in 2015. Since 2018 she is also associated professor at the Department of Genetics, Biological faculty, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. Her publication activity is mainly in the field of population genetics/genomics and complex disorder analyses..
